Common questions

I forgot my PIN. Am I locked out?

No — tap "Forgot PIN?" on the unlock screen and enter your 12-word recovery phrase. You'll be able to set a new PIN and you'll receive a fresh recovery phrase. If you've lost both the PIN and the phrase, the data cannot be recovered (that's the point of the encryption), but you can reset the app and start over.

Face ID / fingerprint isn't working.

Make sure biometrics are enrolled in your device settings, and that Gossip Finder has biometric permission. The app always falls back to your PIN if biometrics are unavailable.

How do I back up my data?

Settings → Export Data. You'll choose a password and get an encrypted file you can store anywhere. Keep the password safe — the export cannot be opened without it.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Clear All Data, or simply uninstall the app. Since nothing is stored in any cloud, deleting locally deletes it everywhere.

Contacts import can't see my contacts.

Check that contacts permission is granted in your phone's settings for Gossip Finder. On iOS you may have granted access to only a limited selection — you can expand it in Settings → Privacy → Contacts. You can always add friends manually instead.
